Carolyn Dillon has been in the Kings Music Department since 1998. She holds a Master’s of Music Education from Miami University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University where she was a member of the Singing Hoosiers, a nationally acclaimed traveling show choir. While in the singing Hoosiers, she sang with Mel Torme and recorded with the Cincinnati Pops. As a member of Cincinnati’s May Festival Chorus, Mrs. Dillon performed with Sandy Patti, John Schneider, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She has toured Europe twice as a soloist with the Naperville Chorus (Chicago suburb). Mrs. Dillon has held roles in Godspell, Scrooge, Evita, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Kiss Me Kate, and The Merry Widow. She is in her 17th year teaching music at Kings, having directed choirs at the high school and junior high, and currently teaches general music and 5th and 6th grade choir at Columbia. Mrs. Dillon has been the vocal director of many Kings’ shows including Crazy for You, Once Upon a Mattress, Oklahoma, The Music Man, and Anything Goes. She was the Music Director for East Side Players’ Seussical in Blue Ash in June 2014, and has assisted ESP as a rehearsal accompanist for Cinderella and Shrek, the Musical. She is a member of Ohio Music Educator’s Association (OMEA) and was a clinician at the 2013 OMEA state conference, presenting a clinic (with Mike Maegly and Jennifer Reeder) on how to effectively teach music to students with multiple disabilities. Mrs. Dillon and her husband John live in Blue Ash with their children Claire (9), Andrew (7), and Margaret (4).
Scott Hayward has been the Choral Director at Kings Junior High School since 2005. He serves as the director of Junior High Choirs as well as the assistant director of High School Choirs and A Cappella groups. Scott is an alumnus of Bowling Green State University and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. Under his direction the Kings Junior High choirs have participated in OMEA Large Group adjudicated events as well as District XIII Honor Choir and Solo & Ensemble events. Scott works closely with the Kings Theatre Department where he serves as the Director of Musicals. Scott has worked on over 30 shows at Kings including directing the musicals: The Drowsy Chaperone, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr, Disney's Beauty and The Beast, Crazy for You, G2K Cinderella, Into the Woods, Aladdin Jr, Wizard of Oz, Music Man Jr, Children of Eden, School House Rock Live Jr, Suessical Jr, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Annie Jr, and Once on this Island Jr. Outside of Kings, Scott also works with the Kings Island Live Entertainment Department and is the resident lighting designer at Rivers Crossing Community Church. Growing up Scott performed with the May Festival Youth Chorus and appeared in many musicals at his High School and with community theatres in the Cincinnati area.
Hope Milthaler is currently the Director of Choral Activities, AP Music Theory instructor, and 7-12 Music Department Chair for the Kings Local School District. She holds a double Masters Degree in Music Education and Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wright State University. Under her direction since 2004, Kings Choirs have received Superior Ratings at OMEA adjudicated contests, have performed in Walt Disney World's Candlelight Processional, Chicago, Gatlinburg, and Nashville, and have been invited to perform in many prestigious events to include WCET’s Cincinnati High Notes, Handel’s Messiah with Sinclair Community College (Dayton, OH), PLAY! A Video Game Symphony with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati, USA. Hope has also worked closely with the Kings Theatre program where she has served as the vocal music director for over 10 musicals.
